Wonder Man Episode Runtimes Revealed for MCU Series (& Fans Won't Like Them)

In an interview with Collider, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel's Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, revealed that Wonder Man will consist of eight episodes, which is two less than the 10-episode count that was originally reported for the Disney+ series. Winderbaum also shared that there will not be a consistent length for the episodes, explaining that streaming allows for a little bit of leeway with the runtimes. "There's a little bit of some streaming leeway in the episode runtimes, so I think our shortest episode is 20-something, and our longest is, like, 40-something," the Marvel head revealed. This is an unfortunate update for fans who have voiced their displeasure online at how short Disney+ episodes are online, with many expressing a desire for the Star Wars and MCU series to have a more consistent and longer runtime of around 40 minutes.

Announced in June 2022, Wonder Man is described as a behind-the-scenes look at Hollywood and a character study of Simon Williams, a superhero who has a side gig as an actor and stuntman, who will be portrayed by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known among comic book fans as the DC Extended Universe's Black Manta. Wonder Man is expected to be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner, a new initiative from Marvel Studios that launched with 2024's Echo that aims to tell more "character-driven" stories with its shows while breaking away from Marvel's big-budget model.

A first look at Wonder Man was shared in November 2024, showing Abdul Mateen's Simon Williams hanging out with fellow thespian Trevor Slattery. The upcoming Disney+ series will mark Kingsley's third time reprising the role since making his debut as Trevor in 2013's Iron Man 3. He also appeared in the 2014 Marvel One-Shot All Hail the King and the 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The cast for Wonder Man also includes Demetrius Grosse as Simon's brother, Eric Williams, an Avengers villain from the comics known as the Grim Reaper; and Ed Harris as Simon's agent, Neal Saroyan, while Lauren Glazier, Josh Gad, and Byron Bowers have been cast in undisclosed roles.

The Next MCU Disney+ Series Is Daredevil: Born Again

Wonder Man is still a way out from being released on Disney+, with five MCU series set to premiere on the streamer before December 2025. First out of the gate is Daredevil: Born Again, a direct continuation of Netflix's Daredevil series, with Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onforio reprising their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. The hotly-anticipated sequel series is set to debut with its first two episodes on Disney+ on March 4.
