The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Paul Walter Hauser says the upcoming movie will "go down in history." This was just part of the praise the actor heaped on the highly anticipated film.
"Let's remember that Marvel is servicing a lot of folks, and they want to make a lot of entertainment for people to enjoy, and none of us are 100%," Hauser told The Direct, while addressing some of the studio's recent box office failures. "None of us hit the mark every time. Not a single one of us. Your favorite director has made a less than satisfactory movie. Just facts."
But according to Hauser, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is "the Marvel movie of the year." He elaborated on this point, saying, "I believe we are the one to watch. And I believe that this will go down in history as one of the ones that started a new tide of successful storytelling for the company. Sort of in the same way the Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther hit. They both hit in a certain way. I believe we are about to hit."
Prior to this, The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman said that there are no other heroes in the team's reality. Shakman also touched on where he's pulling inspiration for the 60s-set MCU reboot, remarking that it's "a lot about the space race and about voyaging out there," so First Steps is "partly to do with that idea - about exploration."

Ben Grimm/The Thing actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach also praised his co-stars in September 2024. "I love them," he said at the time. "We've been working so hard together. We're so close, so even going away for a second I get a little separation anxiety." Ironically, the actor previously revealed that he didn't read Fantastic Four comics as a kid and did not watch any of the previous adaptations.
"It "didn't feel like that would be productive to watch those movies," he said. Putting the spotlight on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige touched upon the importance of the movie, saying that it's "all about the characters." Additionally, a rumor from 2024 claimed that Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom might be from the new Fantastic Four's reality.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters on July 25.
