This week's Your Nerd Side Show:
While speaking on The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider gave listeners a tease on what he’s heard about the new Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie, which was initially announced at Star Wars Celebration in April of this year. Sneider said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if there were updates about the new film this month, going on to tease casting for the movie as well. “I do think that there are things lying in wait,” Sneider noted. “Possibly casting news that are already done. I think that the Daisy Ridley movie has its leads already and it is just a matter of a reporter finding out [who].”
Sneider has been one of the primary reporters on the new Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie, as the insider detailed the film’s development far before it was officially announced. Damon Lindelof was the movie’s initial writer, but was taken off the project at some point earlier this year. Lindelof confirmed that the movie is still happening, however, but added that “it will unfortunately not be with me.” Lindelof went on to wish his former colleagues well, adding: “I wish them all Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is an incredible director, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with."
There are few plot details available as of yet for the new film, but Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy did confirm that it will be set fifteen years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Ridley is the only returning cast member to be announced as of now, but speculation is growing that John Boyega and/or Oscar Isaac could join her.
Development is Ramping Up on Daisy Ridley’s Next Star Wars Adventure
In October, more news was revealed about this new movie set in a galaxy far, far away. New screenwriter Steven Knight was reportedly given until Thanksgiving to turn in the final draft of the script, and filming is reportedly set to get underway at some point next year. The movie also has a new rumored title: Star Wars: New Jedi Order.
