Thor: Love and Thunder Includes a Touching, Almost Hidden 'Dead Avengers' Easter Egg

An almost hidden Avengers Easter egg that pays homage to the sacrifices of Black Widow and Tony Stark was spotted in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Audiences pointed out the Easter egg online. As seen in the photo, a scroll on the right side of Thor's Loki helmet tattoo includes a list of heroes and relatives Thor has lost in his life. From top to bottom, the tattoo includes his mother, father, Heimdall, Loki, Tony and Natasha.

In Avengers: Endgame, the titular team went back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones in an attempt to bring back half of the population of the universe. Natasha Romanoff, better known as Black Widow, fought Clint Barton/Hawkeye and sacrificed herself so Hawkeye could obtain the Soul Stone. Near the end of the film, Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, used his Infinity Gauntlet to snap away Thanos and his army, preventing the universe from being obliterated. Stark's body, however, could not survive the use of all the Infinity Stones and he died surrounded by his closest friends and allies shortly after.

Black Widow and Iron Man fought alongside Thor as part of the original team of Avengers for years. Apart from the original series, many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 projects are built largely on the events in Endgame. Besides Thor: Love and Thunder, other films and television series have also paid tribute to Black Widow and Iron Man's sacrifices. In Spider-Man: Far From Home, several scenes captured the world mourning for Iron Man. Hawkeye also saw Yelena and Clint Barton revisiting Natasha's Soul Stone moment.

The tribute to his fallen family and allies is just one of many similar tattoos fans have spotted on Thor's body. On the left side of the Helmet tattoo, viewers could also spot "Brothers" written on his back. A tramp stamp banner behind the broken heart reads "Rest in Mischief," both tributes to Loki. Thor: Love and Thunder's director Taika Waititi previously discussed how he repurposed a cut scene featuring a Loki tattoo from Ragnarok in the fourth installment.

Thor: Love and Thunder continues the God of Thunder's journey as he parts ways with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor is reunited with his former lover, Jane Foster, with whom he fought to face a new, deadly threat that could potentially eliminate all gods.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now in theaters.
