The Sparrow Academy arrives in a new set of posters for the upcoming third season of The Umbrella Academy, which is slated to hit Netflix sometime this year.
All seven posters featuring close-up shots of the members of the Sparrow Academy have been collected in a single image shared to the official Netflix Geeked Twitter account alongside the caption, "the sparrows have landed." Meanwhile, the individual full-sized posters have been shared to the official Sparrow Academy account.
The posters feature Marcus Hargreeves/Sparrow Number One (Justin Cornwell), Ben Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Two (Justin H. Min), Fei Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Three (Britne Oldford), Alphonso Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Four (Jake Epstein), Sloane Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Five (Genesis Rodriguez), Jayme Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Six (Cazzie David) and Christopher Hargreeves/Sparrow Number Seven, in that order.
Introduced at the end of The Umbrella Academy Season 2, the Sparrow Academy -- a team almost identical to the Umbrella Academy -- was formed in an alternate timeline by a still-alive Sir Reginald Hargreeves. Like with the Umbrella Academy, Reginald adopted the members of the Sparrow Academy and raised them to be superheroes. The team consists of five different children, plus a floating green cube named Christopher and an alternate, still-alive version of Ben.
The Sparrow Academy is slated to play a major role in The Umbrella Academy: Sparrow Academy, the upcoming fourth volume of the original Umbrella Academy comic book created and written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá. Way and Bá's original series, The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite, was first published by Dark Horse Comics in 2007. Apocalypse Suite was followed up by The Umbrella Academy: Dallas in 2008 and The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion in 2018. A number of spinoffs have also hit shelves Netflix's television adaptation of The Umbrella Academydropped its first season in 2019, followed by Season 2 in 2020.
While The Umbrella Academy Season 3 still lacks a specific release date, the Sparrow Academy is already having a but of fun on social media at the Umbrella Academy's expense. The Netflix Geeked post revealing the collection of Sparrow Academy posters features a reply from the official Umbrella Academy Twitter account, which reads, "can they fly away yet." This prompted another reply from the Sparrow Academy account, which reads, "Aw awe you scawed."
