Among the ways The Mandalorian Season 2 grabbed people’s attention late last year was featuring Ahsoka Tano, a longtime player in the realm of Star Wars animation, in live-action. Rosario Dawson debuted as Ahsoka in the episode “The Jedi,” and just a few weeks later, it was announced that the character was getting her own spinoff series. Word’s now come in that Ahsoka will reportedly also feature another prominent character from Star Wars Rebels: Sabine Wren.
According to Kessel Run Transmissions, the Ahsoka series is now filling the role of the Star Wars Rebels sequel series, as opposed to another animated series being forthcoming, which was rumored to be in development, but never officially announced. It was also briefly mentioned that Sabine Wren will supposedly be a recurring character in Ahsoka, which makes sense for Rebels fans, as that series teased a partnership between Sabine and Ahsoka Tano in its final minutes.
For those who didn’t watch Star Wars Rebels (and needless to say that SPOILERS are ahead), the show ended with a peek at what Rebels’ main characters were up to following the fall of the Empire, i.e. approximately five years after the series’ main narrative concluded. Sabine Wren decided to team up with Ahsoka Tano to find Ezra Bridger, who had disappeared to parts unknown in an effort to remove big bad Grand Admiral Thrawn from Lothal.
