The Boys Licenses Compound V as a Real World G Fuel Energy Drink Flavor

The Boys has partnered with G Fuel to bring Compound V, the superpower-granting chemical featured in the Prime Video series, to life as a new energy drink flavor that fans can purchase online.

"Now it's your turn to try 'Compound V,'" a tweet posted by the official Twitter account for Sony reads. "[G Fuel Energy]'s latest is available now. Courtesy of our friends over at [Vought International]." The tweet also shows the design for the product, which features the likenesses of both Homelander (Antony Starr) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty). While the Compound V seen in The Boys is a dangerous chemical responsible for the creation of all the Supes in the series, its real-life counterpart is a (somewhat) less-dangerous chemical with a disclaimer reading "Superpowers Not Guaranteed."

Branded as the official energy drink for Esports, G Fuel claims to be a healthy alternative to other energy drinks. The company has made numerous brand deals with other major franchises over the years. Recent examples of these collaborations include flavors based on Rick and Morty, Mega Man, and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Another flavor for The Boys, titled "Temp V," was released in June to coincide with the show's third season.

Temp V, or "V-23," was introduced in Season 3 of The Boys as a temporary alternative to the permanent Compound V before eventually being revealed to be lethal after just a few doses. Despite this, the highly-experimental chemical allowed the show's titular team of vigilantes to level the playing field against the Seven, something that they were able to do from the get-go in the comic books. The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke said in June that the decision to make the show's version of the Boys powerless was a deliberate choice to reflect the show's themes. "Our guys have to be regular humans figuring out how to take down characters that are just infinitely more powerful than that," Kripke said at the time. "That's the metaphor of the world we're living in."

Based on the comics by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys premiered in 2019 and has since become a massive success for both Amazon and Sony Pictures. The show is currently filming its highly-anticipated fourth season, which will see The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan join the cast. It is unconfirmed as of this time what role Morgan will be playing in The Boys.

The first three seasons of The Boys are available to stream now on Prime Video.
