Star Wars' Ashley Eckstein Reunites With Clone Wars Writer for New Project

Longtime Star Wars alumni Ashley Eckstein and Henry Gilroy are teaming up for another big project.

Per Collider, the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Ahsoka Tano voice actor and the Clone Wars writer will collaborate on an upcoming audio drama co-developed by Eckstein and Jeff Gomez. "I am thrilled to have been chosen to collaborate with Ashley Eckstein once again to bring her and Jeff's fantastical world to life in this exciting new audio adventure," Gilroy declared in a statement, adding, "The original story and characters that they've created compelled me to join them, a star-studded cast, fantastic musicians, and an all-star writing team, on an epic storytelling venture which I can't wait to share with fans in the near future."

Eckstein reaffirmed this news via Instagram, adding that she will serve as the voice of the audio drama series' protagonist. No other cast members or a release date have been announced yet and, in her post, Eckstein mentioned the drama will take place outside of the Star Wars franchise, insisting, "This is not a Star Wars story, it's a completely new world originally conceived by [Jeff Gomez] AND if you like Ahsoka and Star Wars, you will LOVE this story!!!"

...if you like Ahsoka and Star Wars , you will LOVE this story!!!

Since debuting as Ahsoka in 2008's Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, Eckstein continues to voice Anakin Skywalker's former Jedi Padawan in countless media from The Clone Wars series to Star Wars Rebels -- which Gilroy helped executive produce -- to Disney+'s Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. Beginning with The Mandalorian, the character has been played by Rosario Dawson in live-action, whose first standalone series, Ahsoka, premiered last year. Created by The Clone Wars executive producer and Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni -- who wrote each of its eight episodes -- Ahsokafollowed Ahsoka Tano's mission to locate the whereabouts of Grand Admiral Thrawn and Rebels' Ezra Bridger, seeking the aid of several Rebels characters to help her on this quest. Production on season 2 is expected to begin in 2025, though Lucasfilm has yet to announce Ahsoka's next release date.

The Bad Batch Continued the Star Wars Animated Timeline

Lucasfilm's Clone Wars-era animated timeline recently concluded with the series finale of The Bad Batch, which Dee Bradley Baker -- who voiced all the clone troopers, including Ahsoka's fan-favorite ally Captain Rex -- described as "sort of the end of George Lucas' legacy." Other recent animated projects include the anthology series Star Wars Visions and Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, the first cartoon set in Star Wars' High Republic era. Disney+'s next live-action Star Wars series, meanwhile, is the Amblin-inspired Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, followed by the second and final season of Andor.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Ahsoka are all available to stream on Disney+.
