Sean Gunn Reveals Which DC Character He Enjoys Playing Mos

Creature Commandos star Sean Gunn is one of DC's most multitalented actors, playing or voicing several characters for the studio. Gunn reveals which character he most enjoys portraying, and it's an answer that may surprise some.

The younger brother of DC Studio co-CEO James Gunn played Weasel and Calendar Man in the DC Extended Universe's The Suicide Squad and reprises his Weasel role in Creature Commandos. However, Gunn revealed one of his upcoming trio of DCU characters is his most satisfying, claiming he likes playing Maxwell Lord the most. While he couldn't go into detail about the character, Gunn said, “I can say that my brother James and I did discuss… what source materials were relevant to my process.”

Gunn was cast to play the villainous Lord last December. Multiple reports suggested he could appear in the DCU's Superman reboot, or at least be mentioned in the background to set up future appearances. Set photos from Superman later showed Gunn's Lord on the set, seemingly confirming his involvement in the remake. Previously portrayed by Pedro Pascal in the DCEU's Wonder Woman 1984, Lord, whose real name is Maxwell Lorenzano, is a struggling yet charismatic businessperson who was the manager of the Justice League International and first appeared in DC Comics' Justice League #1 in 1987. However, when the Gene Bomb gave him mind control powers, he became increasingly power-hungry and his more sinister traits emerged.

Sean Gunn Voices Multiple DC Roles

Also known for playing Kraglin Obfonteri in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Gunn voiced Weasel and G.I. Robot in Creature Commandos, which chronicles the eponymous black-ops team assembled by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) following the events of Peacemaker Season 1. Weasel is a member of the titular group and Suicide Squad mirroring the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes. Meanwhile, G.I. Robot is a military android who kills Nazis and only felt at home during World War II.

Described as the "first expression" of the DCU, Creature Commandos sees Gunn star alongside Frank Grillo (Rick Flag Sr.), David Harbour (Eric Frankenstein), Zoë Chao (Nina Mazursky) and Alan Tudyk, who also voices two characters in Doctor Phosphorus and Clayface. The TV-MA-rated series opens the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and precedes Superman, which kicks off the film slate next July. James Gunn created, wrote and co-produced the series.

Creature Commandos will feature seven episodes and is one of five animated Max series debuting in Chapter One. The action show has been teased as a "funny and filthy" series filled with edgy humor and risqué scenes.
