Percy Jackson Star Quickly Rises as Popular Pick to Play Link in The Legend of Zelda Movie

Your Nerd Side Halloween Special Part 1 and 2:

It wasn't long for fans to start with their fantasy casting for Nintendo's live-action Legend of Zelda movie, and Walker Scobell very quickly emerged as one of the most popular picks.

After starring as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds' character in Shawn Levy's Netflix movie The Adam Project, Scobell will next lead the cast as the titular demigod in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. He's still on the rise with his career just getting started, but there are many fans who think he's got the abilities along with the right look to portray a live-action Link. On social media platforms like X, a consensus seems to be forming with continuous suggestions from fans for Scobell to be Link in the Nintendo film.

As one post on X reads, "Walker Scobell or bust. He’s the perfect age right now to progress from young to adult Link over the course of the franchise. Looks the part. Is in the perfect spot career wise. If this isn’t the casting choice, someone should eat a shoe."

It may take some time for an official casting announcement to come from Nintendo, as the project is still in its early stages. However, it does have a writer and director already in place. Wes Ball, who helmed the Maze Runner films along with the upcoming movie Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the Legend of Zelda movie. It was also reported that Jurassic World screenwriter Derek Connolly would be writing the script. There's no telling just yet when filming might start, given how Nintendo may want to be careful not to rush the production for such a film that has been anticipated by fans for decades.

Scobell is a popular candidate, though he's certainly not the only name getting mentioned online. Fans are also pointing to other actors including Logan Lerman, Dylan O'Brien, Christian Convery, and Jacob Tremblay. In any case, until an official casting announcement is made, it should be expected for the fantasy casting to continue in the meantime. Of course, that will extend to Princess Zelda, Ganon, and other characters from the Legend of Zeldagames.

A release date hasn't yet been announced for the movie version of The Legend of Zelda. More posts on social media from fans wanting to see Scobell star in the film can be seen below.
