Nicholas Galitzine has the Power! Amazon MGM Studios has released the first look at the actor in character as He-Man for the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot.

The image was shared on the studio's official X account alongside the caption, "Eternia is in good hands. Here's your first look at Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man with the Sword of Power in the upcoming film." Unfortunately for fans, the image doesn't offer a full-body shot of Galitzine in costume as He-Man. Instead, the image is a close-up of his hands and upper body, with the Sword of Power taking up most of the shot. However, based on what is shown, the reboot's He-Man looks extremely faithful to the original animated version. Check out the image below.

Filming on the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot began in January 2025. Travis Knight, whose directorial credits include 2016's Kubo and the Two Strings and 2017's Transformers prequel Bumblebee, is directing the movie from a screenplay written by Chris Butler. While plot details remain under wraps for Masters of the Universe, set photos from the production have revealed that at least part of the movie will take place on Earth, showing He-Man being arrested by police.

A previous synopsis for the reboot indicated that the movie would follow "10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!"

Who Else Stars in Masters of the Universe?

A lot of star power is attached to Masters of the Universe, suggesting that Amazon MGM Studios has high hopes that the movie will be the start of a new franchise. Besides Galitzine, who previously worked with Amazon on the rom-coms Red, White & Royal Blue (2023) and The Idea of You (2024), MotU will feature Riverdale alum Camila Mendes as Teela, captain of the Royal Guard; Oscar winner Jared Leto as Skeletor, the skull-faced, blue-skinned antagonist of the Masters franchise; and Thor alum Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, He-Man's closest ally and Teela's adopted father.

The cast also includes Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, and Christian Vunipola as Hussein.

Masters of the Universe is scheduled to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.
