Marvel Comics will unleash its most iconic supervillains in an upcoming event to mark the 50th anniversary of a groundbreaking trade paperback collection. The publisher's Bring on the Bad Guys event, which kicks off this June, will occur across seven one-shots starring Doctor Doom, Green Goblin, Abomination, Loki, Red Skull, Dormammu, and Mephisto.

Per Marvel, Emmy Award-winning writer Marc Guggenheim will helm the overarching saga that promises to change the balance of power in the Marvel Universe. He will also pen the first entry in the series, Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom, alongside acclaimed artist Stefano Raffaele and deliver the event's epic conclusion in Bring on the Bad Guys: Mephisto. In addition to Lee Bermejo's Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom #1 cover, Mike McKone and Leirix provide variant covers. The publisher announced that other renowned creators will craft the additional one-shots, which will all contain a special backup story by Guggenheim, shedding light on Mephisto's devious plot and the origin of the mysterious new villain Sister Sorrow, who plays a pivotal role throughout the saga.

Following the arrival of Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom in June, Bring on the Bad Guys: Green Goblin, Bring on the Bad Guys: Abomination and Bring on the Bad Guys: Loki will hit comic stores throughout July. The Bring on the Bad Guys one-shots headlined by Red Skull, Dormmamu, and Mephisto will debut throughout August.

Marvel's Bring on the Bad Guys event description reads, "THE BALANCE OF POWER IS FOREVER CHANGED! Mephisto seeks enough souls to power an ancient artifact called the SOUL FORGE – destined to give him dominion over ALL human souls! Doctor Doom must stop him at all costs, but who is the mysterious Sister Sorrow, and what is her connection to Mephisto's ultimate scheme?"

Marvel's Bring on the Bad Guys Collaborators Discuss the Upcoming Event

Guggenheim expressed his love for the original, decades-old Bring on the Bad Guys, which collected key early stories of Marvel's most iconic supervillains. The writer is excited about spearheading the new crossover. "As someone who grew up with the original Bring on the Bad Guys on his bedroom shelf, I find this project particularly exciting," he said. "It's been a while since I had the chance to work with other writers on a crossover event, and I'm truly enjoying the collaboration."

Guggenheim continued, "Marvel has such a rich roster of antagonists, and it's a huge amount of fun to not only give them their time to shine but also add a new villain to their ranks — Sister Sorrow — who is every bit as dangerous and formidable as these classic villains."

Marvel editor Mark Paniccia added, "Marvel broke the mold with supervillains, pushing them past the archetypical to the complex and some even morally gray but still to be feared. Each of these one-shots allows fans to see what makes these villains some of the most dangerous characters in the Marvel Universe."

The upcoming event begins with Bring on the Bad Guys: Doom #1, which will arrive in comic book shops on June 5, 2025.
