Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne are back in the first teaser trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
The new video gives fans a glimpse at the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, laying out a few new details and a fleeting look at the multiversal threat known as Kang The Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily reprise their roles as the titular characters alongside MCU newcomer Kathryn Newton, who takes over the role of Cassie Lang.
Kang isn't the only villain fans will spot in the Quantumania trailer. M.O.D.O.K can be briefly seen terrorizing the eponymous heroes. The floating-chair-bound villain is only seen for a split-second and it's currently unknown who is playing him. Patton Oswalt lent his vocal talents to the adult-animated series M.O.D.O.K which was separate from the MCU. The actor already has a role to play in the expansive superhero franchise as he voiced Pip the Troll in Eternals.
What Can We Expect from Quantumania?
The specific details of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's story are largely still shrouded in the mystery, but director Peyton Reed has reassured fans that the narrative will have a major, lasting effect on Marvel's on-screen world. "Things happen in this movie that are going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe permanently," Reed said. "And it's fun for us that Scott Lang is at the center of that change."
These sentiments were shared by executive producer Brian Gay, who promised that Quantumania will feel different from the previous films. "At the moment, one thing I enjoyed about this movie is we’ve always joked that Ant-Man movies go small but this one’s going to go big!" Gay said. "I will say it’s fun to have the whole family back, and they’re gonna go on quite a big adventure that I think it’s going to feel like a real departure from the previous films."
Beyond these significant ramifications, audiences can also expect several many more familiar faces. Randall Park is reprising his role as fan-favorite character Agent Jimmy Woo, who is just one of what Reed describes as several unexpected appearances. "Oh yes, there's great fun in store for everyone and some surprising faces that may show up in the Quantum Realm," the filmmaker explained.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on Feb. 21, 2023.
