Vought superhero Tek Knight will finally make his appearance in Amazon Studios’ highly-anticipated The Boys spinoff Gen V.
Per EW, Future Man actor Derek Wilson is set to portray the role of Robert Vernon or Tek Knight in the upcoming Gen V series. This marks the character’s live-action debut after only being mentioned by his superhero name during the first three seasons of The Boys. The supe is described as Vought’s very own version of Iron Man, as he’s best known for his high-tech armor suit. In the comic book series, Tek Knight was actually one of the original members of Soldier Boy’s team Payback.
Further details about Tek Knight’s role in the coming-of-age superhero series are still being kept under wraps, but fans may already have an idea at what kind of hero he is based on previous details that mentioned him in The Boys. An example of this was in Season 1, when it was revealed that the woman he saved from a hostage-taking situation had been left paralyzed due to his carelessness.
Gen V Will Set Up The Story for The Boys Season 4
Actor Claudia Doumit, who plays the role of politician Victoria Neuman in The Boys, confirmed that the upcoming college-set spinoff will set up lots of important details for Season 4’s storyline. "It was great to shoot Gen V because they tee up a lot of stuff that's going to happen in Season 4 for The Boys," Doumit said. "Gen V lays a lot of the groundwork and a lot of the foundations that season 4 will be built on for The Boys. So, watch it because it gives you a lot of information."
In a previous interview, Amazon Studios executive Vernon Sanders advised The Boys fans to not miss out on Gen V, as he promises "lots of Easter egg" connecting the spinoff to the main series which will surprise people. In addition to Doumit, series vets Jensen Ackles, Chase Crawford, Colby Minifie, and Jessie T. Usher will also be reprising their respective roles as Soldier Boy, The Deep, Ashley, and A-Train. They will be joining a leading cast of aspiring superheroes consisting of Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Chance Perdomo as Andre Anderson, Lizze Broadway as Emma Shaw, Patrick Schwarzenegger as Golden Boy, and more.
According to the official synopsis, Gen V will take place at Vought-owned superhero college Goldokin University, where the next generation of Supes compete for the chance of getting the best hero contracts in the best cities. "When the group of young Supes discover that something bigger and sinister is going on at school, they're put to the test: Will they be the heroes or the villains of their stories?" The series is also loosely inspired by the G-Men from Garth Ennis and Darick’s graphic novel series, who are meant as a parody of the X-Men.
Gen V premieres on Sept. 29 on Prime Video.
