In Thunderbolts, Florence Pugh reprises her role as Yelena Belova, returning to the MCU after he appearances in Black Widow and Hawkeye. On Wednesday, she took to Instagram to share a new video from the set. In the video, Pugh is a bit cryptic, teasing how she's "not really allowed" to reveal much about the project. However, she does end up sharing a first look at the actual footage from the movie.
"I know that I've kind of dropped off for a little bit, but that's partly because I was whisked off to Atlanta to go and shoot a movie that I'm not really allowed to talk much about, but I can show you some things, sneakily, as long as you don't tell anyone," Pugh said in the video. She then walks through some different areas of the set, revealing some of the crew members working on Thunderbolts from behind the scenes. It culminates with Pugh approaching director Jake Schreier, who's observing footage of the film on a computer monitor.
"This is Jake, our director. What are we allowed to say we're doing?" Pugh says to Schreier. The director then responded, "I don't think you're even allowed to be doing this, most likely." Pugh then joked that "somebody's gonna come rugby tackle" her, but before cutting off the video, she provides a better look at the monitor. Though the image quality isn't great, the screenshot seems to show Pugh's Yelena Belova with a gun drawn.
Yelena Is Coming Back in Thunderbolts
"It’s wonderful," Pugh previously said of finally getting started with production on Thunderbolts after the project endured some delays. "When we shot Black Widow, we thought we were going to shoot the next movie relatively sooner than we did, and it’s just been this thing that’s been looming, that we’ve been waiting to shoot at some point in the future, and now it’s finally happening, so it feels surreal, but it's coming back. Yelena's coming back."
Thunderbolts will consist of a star-studded ensemble cast, and Florence Pugh makes up just one part of it. Other stars include Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr/Ghost), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Olga Kurylenko (Taskmaster), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), Lewis Pullman (Sentry), and Harrison Ford ("Thunderbolt" Ross).
Thunderbolts is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
