Our latest show from Disneyland After Dark
It's safe to say Fast X has been one of the most anticipated sequels in a while. The Fast & Furious franchise, after all, has been a massive Universal Pictures tentpole, raking in the bucks globally. And make no mistake: this tenth installment is due for a big box office openingthat's almost as big as its cast.
It shows the power of Dom Toretto's (Vin Diesel) family and the extent to which fans love their story. They've evolved from ground-level street racers into super spies since the first film in 2001. But now, the crew's about to meet their biggest threat in Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa) -- someone more than just a gangster with guns and knives. Interestingly, it's still unconfirmed if this final chapter will be a two-parter or a trilogy. As a result, folks are curious if there will indeed be a post-credits sequence to set up the continuation of the series.
Fast X Has One Mid-Credits Scene
Post-credits sequences have become quite popular over the last few years. The Marvel Cinematic Universe kicked the creative tool back into gear at the end of 2008's Iron Manwhen Nick Fury emerged to meet Tony Stark. It began the feud between The Avengers and Thanos. The other Marvel phases followed suit, as well as the DC movies and Sony's Spider-Man movies. But post-credits scenes are not just relegated to comic book and superhero properties. Other blockbusters, such as Transformers and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, employ these stingers, too.
Notably, the Fast & Furious franchise has used these tacked-on scenes as well. The sixth film revealed Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw killed Han in its post-credits, while F9's had Shaw and Han reuniting and setting up a scrap. Well, Fast X does add on a crucial scene midway through the credits. Without spoiling too much, it teases a mammoth addition to the war, which could swing the pendulum back to one desperate party.
What To Expect in Fast X
Fast X is the Avengers: Endgame of the series, with Dom needing all hands on deck. That's because Dante's got immense resources, from money to soldiers. These attributes help shape his quest for retribution after Dom's crew killed his dad, Hernan, in the Fast Five heist. This provides the biggest challenge because Dante is going after Dom's weakness: isolating and trying to hurt all of his family.
Luckily, the likes of Jakob, Letty, Roman, Tej, Han and Ramsey have been through the trenches and know when it's time to buckle up for this kind of villain. Still, with Dom having a son in Little Brian, he's quite vulnerable, which is what Dante is trying to expose and exploit. All these ingredients are combining to produce yet another high-octane, intense ride. And ultimately, the intimidating Dante promises an explosive, bumpy road ahead, where not everyone will make it out alive.
To see what the post-credits scene has in store, Fast X races out the gates on May 19.
