Your Nerd Side latest episode with Fonseca:
Superman star David Corenswet has so far kept his superhero physique under wraps, literally. However, he was recently spotted without an oversized sweatshirt or hoodie covering his arms, allowing DC fans their first good look at how jacked the actor has gotten for the DC Universe movie.
The X account @dcuworld recently shared photos that a fan had taken in Mexico of Corenswet filming an ad. The actor was shown sporting black shorts and a tank top as he walked onto set. The actor's arms were on full display in all four photos and confirmed that the next Man of Steel has been putting in the work at the gym. These images of Corenswet come about a week after the actor mentioned that the 2025 superhero movie's vibes were based on the Superman stories For All Seasons and All-Star, but the story was "totally its own thing."
With Corenswet currently in Mexico, it looks like production on Superman has been paused while writer, director, and DC Studios head James Gunn is busy doing a pre-shoot on Peacemaker Season 2. The John Cena-led superhero show will be the second DCU, and first live-action, series released in the DCU. While the first season was part of the DC Extended Universe, Peacemaker Season 2 will take place in the DCU, with Gunn previously confirming that the continuity change will be addressed in the new season.
When Are Fans Getting an Official Superman Suit Reveal?
Although fans have now seen Corenswet's Superman physique, they still haven't seen the actor in costume as the Man of Steel. While the fandom is champing at the bit for an official costume reveal, Gunn is in no hurry, telling the fandom on Threads that it is too early for an official reveal since Superman "doesn't come out for over a year." However, he later walked back this statement and said that he was "almost ready to show it to you" despite being "only 18%" finished with production.
Superman has been in production since Feb. 29, which coincidentally is the superhero's birthday. The upcoming movie, which was previously titled Superman: Legacy, will follow the titular hero as he tries to reconcile his Kryptonian roots with his human upbringing. The reboot will also avoid retelling the Man of Steel's origin story, instead picking up with Clark Kent already operating as the superhero in Metropolis while working at the Daily Planet.
Who Else Stars in the First DCU Movie?
Besides Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, the DCU movie features Rachel Brosnahan as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Terence Rosemore as Otis, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.
Superman is slated to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
