Your Nerd Side Halloween Special : New Show this weekend:
After Daredevil: Born Again was halted amid production to be retooled, the project's new directors have shared an exciting update on its progress.
In October, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again had undergone a major creative shakeup as studio execs weren't happy with the current direction of the show. At that point, less than half of the series had been filmed, and the decision was made to go back to the drawing board with an all-new creative team. That included bringing on Dario Scardapane, who worked on The Punisher to be the new showrunner, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Loki) came on to serve as directors. While speaking about the project with TheWrap, Benson and Moorhead shared the scoop on where exactly the revamped version of the project is with its production.
According to the directors, they're still at "day zero" with Daredevil: Born Again, suggesting it will be a while before the series arrives, given how early it still is with its new approach with production. However, they've been doing heavy research with the new series for inspiration, so they'll be able to hit the ground running when work gears back up on Born Again. Better yet, it's revealed how the original Netflix series serves as a major inspiration for Born Again, but beyond that, they're also looking back into other classic Daredevil content as well, looking to ultimately nail down the character in a way that will satisfy the fans.
“We have the best answer for you. So you see this space we’re in right now? This is our office and we just found out we have an office about 45 minutes ago. And that’s what we’re at withDaredevil," Benson said. Moorhead then added, "It is day zero. We’re currently just consuming Daredevil content, not just the Netflix show but all the possible material. We’re just making our stew of information nice and thick.”
Daredevil Will Appear in Echo With a Longtime Rival
The wait for Daredevil: Born Again may be long, but two of its lead stars will be able to be seen in the meantime. The trailer for the Hawkeye spinoff series Echo showcased Vincent D'Onofrio's return as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, as he will have a prominent presence in that series. Though he was only seen briefly, Charlie Cox's Daredevil was also spotted in the trailer. The TV-MA series is set to arrive on Disney+ and Hulu on Jan. 10, 2024.
