Black Panther 2 Merch Reveals Ironheart's First Armor

Fans might have finally gotten their look at Riri Williams/Ironheart's first armor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

On Twitter, user @themcutimes posted images of two pieces of merchandise for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The images show a look at what seems to be an early version of Ironheart's suit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's important to note that merchandise leaks are not always accurate to the final product or what appears in a given film. Additionally, the original source for these images was not made immediately clear.

The sequel to 2018's Black Panther, Wakanda Forever will feature the return of a number of key actors from the original film, including Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Letitia Wright as Shuri and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross. Dominique Thorne will make her debut as Ironheart in the movie, though it's not clear just how she'll tie into events. Additionally, the movie has long been rumored to introduce Namor the Sub-Mariner to the MCU. A merchandise leak indicated actor Tenoch Huerta would play the classic character. In the comics, Atlantis and Wakanda went to war following the events of Avengers Vs. X-Men. However, it's not clear at this time if the movie will explore that conflict or something else entirely.

While production on a sequel to Black Panther was confirmed in 2019, plans for the movie changed after the passing of Chadwick Boseman, who played T'Challa in the original film. At this time, Marvel Studios has said there are no plans to recast the role. Following that news, a petition to recast the role gained prominence online, and Derrick Boseman has said he believes his brother would have wanted someone to take up the mantle in his absence.

Created by Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Deodato, Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda, Williams first made a cameo appearance in 2016's Invincible Iron Man #7. The young genius built her own version of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor and has been a key member of the Champions. Following her appearance in Wakanda Forever, Williams will return in Ironheart, a Disney+ series further exploring her character. Plot details for that series are scare at the time of writing.

Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script by himself and Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters on Nov. 11.
