The Disneyland Resort's new Marvel-themed area, Avengers Campus, will open early this June at the Disney California Adventure Park.
Avengers Campus -- the Disneyland Resort's new area based around the world of Marvel -- is slated to open at Anaheim's Disney California Adventure Park on Friday, June 4.
"We are so excited to soon welcome our guests to Avengers Campus, the first land dedicated to Super Heroes at Disney California Adventure Park," said Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock. "Guests of all ages can find their powers and our cast members will unite to create these special moments and memories."
"Avengers Campus will be a place where fans and guests can finally step into the universe they love, and stand alongside some of their favorite heroes," added Dave Bushore, Marvel Studios' Vice President of Franchise Creative and Marketing. "The optimism inherent in Avengers Campus captures the diversity, power and teamwork these extraordinary characters possess, and now they come together to unite people from all over the world under one guiding principle: We are stronger together."
Avengers Campus is located right beside the existing Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout! attraction in the area once occupied by A Bug's Land. The Marvel-themed land was originally slated to open on July 18, 2020, though was delayed as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. After temporarily closing their doors back in March of 2020, both Disneyland and California Adventure are scheduled to re-open the public later this month on April 30 with limited capacity, as well as with mask and social distancing guidelines in effect.
Avengers Campus includes all-new attractions, including WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, which is accompanied by the WEB Suppliers and The Campus Supply Pod gift shops, where visitors can pick up "official Avengers Campus gear including performance fleece hoodies and tees, headwear, drinkware and other Super Hero supplies, or even a friendly sidekick, one of those pesky interactive Spider-Bots."
As far as food goes, there's the Pym Test Kitchen. Based on the world of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Marvel calls the restaurant "the place to go for new, inventive food offerings." The House of Ideas also explains that guests will be able to "watch the Pym food scientists at work in the kitchen lab, they will see the transformation of a regular-sized pretzel after going through a Quantum Tunnel -- and it comes out either big or small!" Then, for "older heroes," there's the Pym Tasting Lab next door, which offers craft beer, as well as the in-universe beverage Pingo Doce. Guests can also pick up their wrap of choice at Shawarma Palace or a churro spiral from Taneleer Tivan.
Finally, guests can meet the likes of Captain America, Black Panther and Black Widow at the Avengers Headquarters, or even train with Okoye and the Dora Milaje. They can also pay a visit to Doctor Strange down at the Ancient Sanctum. Other heroes set to roam around Avengers Campus include Iron Man -- complete with his new Mark 80 suit -- as well as Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel.
Avengers Campus opens at Disney California Adventure on June 4.
