Alien: Earth Unveils Mysterious Footage Offering New Clues for FX Series

The marketing for Alien: Earth is beginning to ramp up. A series of video teasers have been released ahead of the sci-fi show's summer premiere on FX.

Bloody Disgusting was recently sent five short videos featuring footage filmed on the camera collar of the long-haired orange cat, Rascal, who roams freely aboard the USCSS Maginot, the Weyland-Yutani ship that will crashland on Earth in the upcoming Alienseries. The description for all five videos is the same and reads as follows: "We suspect there is important information pertaining to Weyland Yutani's Deep Space Programs that could be of use to the corporation. Files on the data drive may offer clues to the ship's mission." Check out all five teasers below.

Longtime fans of the Alien franchise may notice that the first video ends with the following directive from the ship’s MU/TH/UR: "Priority one: Acquisition and safe return of all organisms for analysis. All other considerations secondary."This directive is very similar to the one from Ridley Scott's original Alien movie — "Priority one: Insure return of organism for analysis. All other considerations secondary. Crew expendable." — except with one major difference: the Alien: Earth directive implies that there is more than one alien lifeform aboard the USCSS Maginot.

The ship's name, USCSS Maginot, offers another clue, although one that might not be easily discerned by the fandom. Bloody Discussing theorizes that the USCSS Maginot likely refers to "a Maginot Line, defined as 'a defensive barrier or strategy that inspires a false sense of security.' Historically, the Maginot Line was an expensive array of defenses that France built along its border with Germany in the 1930s meant to prevent invasion. Instead, it became a symbol of failure when German forces simply went around the Maginot Line during World War II."

Alien: Earth Features a Large Ensemble Cast

Initially envisioned as a limited series, series creator Noah Hawley has revealed that Alien: Earth will now run for multiple seasons, with a three-act story already mapped out. The first season will be set in 2120, taking place after "a mysterious space vessel crashlands on Earth." A young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers will "make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat."

Joining Chandler as part of the show's main cast are Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young as Tootles, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson. Alien: Earth will also feature the following actors as recurring cast members: Richa Moorjani (Never Have I Ever), Karen Aldridge (Severance), Enzo Cilenti (The Crown), Max Rinehart (Industry), Amir Boutrous (Good Omens), Victoria Masoma, Tom Moya (Midsomer Murders), Andy Yu (Fargo), Michael Smiley (Bad Sisters), Jamie Bisping (Mandy), and Tanapol Chuksrida (Thai Cave Rescue).

Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on FX on Hulu this summer.
