Sony has released a new trailer for Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as its title character, Sergei Kravinoff/Kraven. The action-packed trailer also featured the full debut of another classic Spider-Man villain, The Rhino.
After being teased in the first footage Sony ever released for Kraven the Hunter, which was back at CinemaCon 2023, Rhino was fully revealed in the new trailer for the upcoming superhero movie. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist John Romita Sr., Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #41 in 1966 as a Russian thug who underwent an experimental procedure that gave him an artificial skin covering and superhuman strength. Alessandra Nivolawill portray The Rhino in Kraven the Hunter, becoming the second actor to portray the classic Spider-Man character in live-action after Paul Giamatti. Fans can check out a screengrab of Rhino, as well as watch the new trailer featuring more of the supervillain in action, below.
Kraven the Hunter Is Actually Full of Spider-Man Villains
Kraven and Rhino are not the only villains from Spider-Man's rogues gallery that are set to appear in the upcoming Sony's Spider-Man Universe movie. The two will be joined by three more, albeit less popular, supervillains — Calypso (Ariana DeBose), Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), and the Foreigner (Christopher Abbott). DeBose's Calypso is a voodoo priestess and serves as Kraven's love interest, while Hechinger's Chameleon is the title character's half-brother and a master of disguise. Abbott's Foreigner, meanwhile, is believed to be the main villain of the movie.
Kraven the Hunter will mark the third time Taylor-Johnson has played a comic book character, following his roles as the titular superhero in the Kick-Ass films and Marvel speedster Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Comic book fans have been waiting for Kraven the Hunter to be released for a few years now, as the movie was originally scheduled to hit theaters in January 2023. However, following multiple delays, Kraven is now slated to open worldwide on Dec. 13.
